It's funny how things work out. How God puts us in the right places at the right times and fulfills our desires and wishes, even those that we thought were stupid and that we'd have to "get over" some day. I had this small wish of being able to travel and be some kind of public speaker....but I never had something to talk about or enough credibility on a single topic. Well, I joined the convent completely unaware that part of the ministry of being a postulant is just that. I have been going to schools and churches with Marie...where we share our vocation stories. I actually speak in auditoriums with a microphone and answer questions like, "Is your mom a nun, too?" and "Are you allowed to have stuffed animals?" I'm living a dream in the most unexpected way.
Speaking of living a dream, there's a discernment retreat this weekend and we watched the opening ceremony of the Olympics. We also did something really goofy. We walked the halls and sang a song while waving really big flags (to go along with the Olympic theme). It was so funny! I am enjoying getting to know the retreatants more, and helping them feel comfortable here.
The opening ceremony, by the way, was awesome. There was a very artistic show about the history of Canada. Loved it!
